Two poems
by Alexandra Karnoff
|
Inebriated Compulsion
My rumination
Habitual
Like the drunk
Who sits outside the liquor store
Waiting for the doors to open
Exact amount
In change
In hand
For 40 ounces of Old English
Brown paper skin
Take it home again
|
Day in Bed
The sun
Low in the sky
The day
Consumed by caress
Our skin
Made blue by the glow of the room
We are not cold
Skin is made moist
By overlapping flesh
Melting off bone
Fusing together
We must atone
For pressed sweat and
Your sandpaper face
